This Transportation Research Board standing committee is concerned with priority measures for high-occupancy vehicle (HOVs), including guidelines for planning, designing, operating, and evaluating HOV priority facilities and the development, validation, and dissemination of theoretical, experimental and applied research related to HOV priority facilities. The objectives of the committee include assisting in enhancing the performance, safety, and efficiency of the priority HOV facilities and establishing preferential HOV improvements as an integral element of the urban transportation system.

2008 HOV Awards Program

Nominations Due August 20, 2008

The Transportation Research Board’s HOV Systems Committee is pleased to announce the 2008 HOV Awards Program. Nominations are due August 20, 2008. The program recognizes accomplishments, contributions and events related to the advancement of knowledge or implementation of High Occupancy Vehicle Systems around the world. Winners will be recognized at the 13th Annual International HOV Conference to be held in Minneapolis, MN, September 8-9, 2008.

Plan now to attend the Transportation Research Board (TRB) 13th International HOV/HOT conference in Minneapolis, MN September 7-9, 2008 at the University Radisson Hotel. The conference will highlight the latest developments in HOV, HOT, and managed lanes projects throughout North America. Information will also be presented on supporting elements including transit and BRT, park-and-ride facilities, and ridesharing. Updates on the Urban Partnership Agreement (UPA) projects will be highlighted.

Online registration will be available until 5:00 pm CST, Tuesday, August 26, 2008. After this date, please plan to register on-site at the Radisson University Hotel.

2009 TRB Annual Meeting Call for Papers
The TRB HOV Systems Committee (AHB35) invites you to submit papers for the TRB Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, in January 2009. Papers are invited on topics that further the understanding of HOV, HOT and managed lane projects.

TRB Webinar: Recent Advances in Managed Lanes Networks

TRB, in conjunction with the HOV Committee and Managed Lanes Joint Subcommittee, hosted a web briefing or “Webinar” on Tuesday, March 18th that explored the concept of using managed lanes on a system-wide level to address regional mobility and compound travel time benefits by linking individual facilities. An estimated 570 individuals participated representing nearly 20 states and a variety of agencies and disciplines. Click on the following links to access the video and presentations.
